The celebrations began on the evening of April 7 with cocktails and a gala dinner. Guests stayed overnight at the Sofitel Phokeethra Royal Angkor Golf & Spa Resort and enjoyed a morning of golf after the official Opening Ceremony. Cambodian Prime Minister, His Excellency Samdech Hun Sen officially presided over the Grand Opening ceremony. Mr. Supachai Verapuchong, Managing Director of the Phokeethra Country Club welcomed the guests. Local dignitaries included His Excellency Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister; His Excellency Hong Sun Huot, Second Vice President of National Assembly; His Excellency Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister of Commerce; His Excellency Veng Sereyvuth, Senior Minister; and His Excellency So Khun. Dignitaries from Thailand included General Chavalit Yongchaiyudh as well as many members of the Thai press, including journalists from Thai Rath, Matichon, Thansetthakij and Siam Turakij newspapers, and writers from Tropical and CLEO magazines. Other VIPs attending the event were Mr. Paul Dubrule, co-founder of Accor; Mr. Michael Issenberg, Managing Director of Accor Asia Pacific; Mr. Oswald Pichler, Vice President Ð Operations (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia); Mr. Victor Pang, Vice President, Development Asia; Ms. Htwe Hla Han, Director Ð Events Development of Asian Tour Headquarters; and Mr. Justin Frizelle, General Manager of Diageo Ð Asia South Spirits. |
